VeriSign and Innovative Card Technologies create new fraud protection that fits in a wallet!  (May 2007)
The two companies announced an agreement that will make it easier than ever for financial service providers and retailers to issue and accept payment cards embedded with a one-time-password (OTP) authentication to protect their onlne transactions from e-fraud.

Microsoft Point of Sale Launch Coverage Continues
Coverage of the launch of Microsoft Point of Sale continued this week with a straightforward news brief included in the June issue of Accounting Technology, and mention in broader coverage on SearchCIO regarding an AMI research survey which predicted accelerated IT spending in the retail industry in the next year.  Microsoft was named amongst a small handful of vendors which included IBM, SAP AG and Oracle Corp., who are “tripping over each other to roll out the next best product for the SMB retail sector.”

Microsoft Point of Sale is designed for single-store retailers that need to track and manage sales, inventory and customer information. Designed to replace a cash register, Microsoft POS works both with Microsoft Office and with accounting applications such as QuickBooks. The product has the Windows interface and customizable touch-screen controls. The system can be used out of the box with a store's existing PC and peripherals, or users can purchase hardware and software bundles from other providers. Retailers can use Microsoft Point of Sale out of the box with their existing PC and peripherals or can purchase complete hardware and software bundles from leading technology providers.
